Set Winning Goals for Your Agency in 2022

It’s hard to believe that another new year is already upon us — a time for fresh starts and new beginnings. And while many people are setting weight-loss and home organization goals, you’ve probably got a few other aspirations on your mind as a We Insure agency owner. 

 

Of course, most entrepreneurs have a goal of increasing revenue, but defining how you get there is where the rubber meets the road. It’s critical to set specific, concrete business goals — and specify the strategies and tactics that will support those efforts.

 

This is a perfect time to review the challenges and successes of the past year and set targets for the next leg of your journey. We’ve got a few suggestions to help you get your compass pointed in the right direction.

 

Be Specific. Everyone wants to grow their book of business … by a lot. But what does that really mean for your agency? Where will these new policies come from? Do you feel some of your lines and market segments have untapped potential? Set specific and measurable goals from the very start. 

 

Make It a Team Effort. It’s powerful when an entire group focuses on a goal. Your employees and partners may offer up ideas that you hadn’t thought of on your own. Make sure each person is accountable for his or her specific responsibilities and contributions. Then, celebrate successes and milestones with your team as you achieve them one by one.

 

Branch Out. The new year is a great time to start promoting your agency on a new social media channel or to add another weapon to your prospecting arsenal, like a referral rewards program. Don’t be overly ambitious — remember that it’s better to execute well on one platform than haphazardly across several. So pick one channel to add or focus on, then track and test your results. Once you master one, branch out to another.

 

Build Connections. Not all business goals should necessarily be sales oriented. How about getting more testimonials for your website? Or, set some customer service goals, such as shortening the average time to return client calls or emails.

 

Anticipate Hurdles. Don’t expect smooth sailing as you pursue your 2022 goals. Take some time to consider likely obstacles you’ll encounter along the way and come up with a plan to overcome them ahead of time. For example, if your DIY video marketing campaign to attract new commercial insurance clients doesn’t land, consider bringing in an editor to take your videos from fizzle to sizzle. 

 

Think Big, but Be Realistic. Set audacious, game-changing goals for your agency but not so lofty that it’s unlikely you’ll reach them anytime soon. If you have a really big goal in mind, break it down into smaller milestones to shoot for and celebrate when you hit them.

Track your progress each quarter and tweak your plan as needed. Working toward a clear objective with a specific strategy can yield surprising results. So set your goals — and your course — for your most successful year yet.
